Garage

"Garage"--soft g or hard g (you people from England say it properly anyway so your vote doesn't count ;)?

Anyway, going down to the garaaa---- to sort through years of junk I've left neglected but somehow never have been quite able to part with.

I am back in Virginia...Can't explain the shock. It's as though in the last four months, someone went in and erased all of my prior memories of this place. The grocery stores have grown massive and shockingly bright and I notice pleasant donut smells as I stand in line. The lady standing behind me is giving me personal space and not trying to push me forward as I sign my credit card receipt. An iced caramel macchiato yesterday tasted like the first Starbucks I've ever had. I think I downed it in 4 minutes. People are carrying on conversations in English and understanding each other. I'm near my family and they actually enjoy my humor--yayyyy!

Thought I'd share a few more pictures with you from the last few weeks...

This is by far the best way to get around town...Pastor Sasa lets me drive it!

Hello

The past several weeks have been quite busy--thank you for your forgiveness. It's been fun touring Americans around Sarajevo! Gotten to show off my slowly-improving Bosnian conversational skills.

Last night I took a couple of friends out to a Thai restaurant--best Thai food in E. Europe is found in downtown Sarajevo, by the way. Way overpriced and overpopulated by Americans and Germans--delicious.

I go to the States in 3 days for the wedding, vacation, etc. Trying to think of how I'm going to sum up these past 4 months in Sarajevo to friends and family...I think a smile, a shrug, and some Milka chocolate should do the trick.

I do apologize...

...for being so utterly scarce lately. Between my internet cable being down for the past two weeks because of construction/repairs on my apartment building, and spending 7 nights in a tent on the hard ground in a Bosnian valley, I have had no time to even check e-mail, let alone blog. I trust everything will be back in business by tomorrow at the latest; until then, I remain your faithful. Don't give up on me!
